Today, Monday, October 26, 2026, a new chapter began at the Professional Institute of Excellence (PIE). This morning, our campus in Phnom Penh welcomed a new generation of junior students, dressed in their professional uniforms for their very first day of classes and ready to start their journey toward a career in hospitality and culinary arts.
Our new juniors are joining two programs, Culinary Arts and English Preparatory, and together they bring fresh energy, curiosity and ambition to our campus. Whether you are one of our new juniors or thinking about applying for a future intake, here is a look at how the semester got started.
Our new juniors have begun their studies in two programs:
Culinary Arts: training in a professional kitchen environment, mastering classical and modern cooking techniques, menu development, cost control and kitchen operations.
English Preparatory: strengthening English for hospitality through industry-focused communication, guest interaction and professional vocabulary, as a pathway into our diploma programs.
Although each program follows its own path, all of our new students started together, building friendships and a sense of community from day one.
Before today’s first classes, our new students took part in induction week from October 19 to 23. The week helped them settle in, build confidence and understand what it means to be part of a professional learning environment
Receiving Their Professional Uniforms
Each student received their PIE uniform, personalized with the PIE logo and their own name. The uniforms you see in today’s photos are more than clothing. In hospitality, the uniform represents professionalism, pride and the standards our students will carry into their careers
Knife Sets and Study Materials
Students were also given their knife sets and study utensils, the essential tools they will use throughout their training. For future chefs, a personal knife set is the start of a lifelong professional companion.
Getting to Know the Campus
Our new juniors explored our facilities, including the training kitchens, classrooms and learning spaces where they will spend their days.
Safety Standards, Rules and Regulations
Safety and hygiene are the foundation of every professional kitchen and service environment. During induction, students were introduced to PIE’s safety standards, rules and regulations, so they can learn and work safely and responsibly from their very first class.
With induction week complete, the semester officially began this morning. From today, our juniors step into a practice-driven learning experience that combines hands-on training, academic study and professional values.
As an institute accredited by SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern, one of Switzerland’s leading hospitality schools, PIE brings Swiss-standard hospitality education to Cambodia. For our juniors, that means learning to the standards expected by leading hotels, resorts and restaurants, both in Cambodia and internationally.
Be on time, every time. Punctuality is one of the most valued habits in hospitality.
Take pride in your uniform. Keep it clean, pressed and complete.
Ask questions. Your chefs and lecturers are here to guide you.
Practice your English. It will open doors throughout your career.
Get involved. Events and activities are a great way to grow your network.
To all our new juniors: welcome! It was wonderful to see you on campus this morning in your uniforms, and we are excited to watch you grow, learn and discover your passion for hospitality. Your journey toward an international career starts today.
Interested in joining a future intake? PIE offers two intakes per year, and our admissions team is happy to guide you through the application process.
