At the Professional Institute of Excellence learning is about much more than classrooms and textbooks. This Friday, PIE had the pleasure of welcoming soon-to-graduate students from Paññāsāstra International School (PSIS) for an interactive campus experience designed to introduce them to the exciting world of hospitality and culinary arts.
The visit was organized to help students explore hospitality as a potential academic and professional pathway before graduation, while also giving them the opportunity to experience the industry in a practical and engaging environment.
Discovering Hospitality Careers First-Hand
The day began with a warm welcome reception and guided campus tour, allowing the visiting students to discover PIE’s professional training facilities, including the demonstration kitchen, fine dining kitchen, training restaurant, and practical learning spaces.
Students then attended a presentation introducing PIE’s academic programs, curriculum structure, and the many career opportunities available in the hospitality industry — from culinary arts and food & beverage operations to hotel management and international hospitality careers.
With hospitality continuing to grow both in Cambodia and internationally, the event aimed to show students that the industry offers not only employment opportunities, but also creativity, international mobility, and long-term career development.
Interactive Workshops: Culinary Arts & Food and Beverage
To give participants a genuine hands-on experience, students were divided into two groups for interactive workshops led by PIE lecturers and advanced students.
One group participated in a Food & Beverage workshop, where they learned about professional table setup, decoration concepts, and mocktail preparation. Students rotated through different stations and had the opportunity to create signature drinks while discovering essential hospitality service techniques.
The workshop included mocktails such as, Watermelon Mint Juice, Tropical Bob Bodia and King Fisher. Students also explored flower decoration, teamwork exercises, and restaurant service presentation.
At the same time, the second group joined a Culinary Arts workshop in the Fine Dining Kitchen, where they observed menu preparation and plating techniques in a professional kitchen environment.
The goal of the workshops was not only to introduce technical skills, but also to allow students to experience the dynamic and collaborative nature of hospitality professions.
Hospitality as a Future Pathway
For many of the visiting students, this was their first direct exposure to the hospitality industry from an educational perspective. Events like these help young people better understand the wide variety of career opportunities available in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, and international hospitality businesses.
Hospitality today is one of the world’s most international industries, offering opportunities for creativity, leadership, entrepreneurship, and global careers. Through practical learning experiences, PIE aims to inspire students to explore careers where passion, people skills, and professional excellence come together.
A Shared Lunch and Meaningful Exchange
The visit concluded with a lunch tasting experience prepared and served within the training environment, allowing students, teachers, and the PIE team to interact in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere before closing remarks and group photos.
